So, quite a while ago now, I asked my mum if she would let me do her makeup to be featured on my blog and she was only happy to accept! We decided to do a little bit of an outfit of the day at the same time so I hope you like it! As a bit of a side note, my Mum vary rarely wears foundation as her skin is just amazing anyway so she doesn’t need it! If you want to know what skin products she uses to keep her skin in such good condition then please leave me a comment below and I’ll let you know all the details!
So, the makeup! Mum had just come back off holiday when we did this makeup look so we really wanted to emphasise her tan and so went for a really golden, glowing makeup look which complemented her skin, hair and blue eyes beautifully!
So, first things first, we popped a little bit of concealer around Mum’s nose, under her eyes and on any little areas that needs a bit of coverage. We used the Clarins Instant Concealer in the darkest shade 03. This is a perfect match for Mum’s tanned skin and is seriously good coverage. When this was taken, Mum was recovering from a rather bad coldsore and as you can see, you can’t even see it! (Please note I haven’t edited this photo in the slightest!)
Now, as you can tell by her rather enviable tan, Mum loves to be brown, so we like to emphasise this by adding some bronzer to the high points of her face. Mum and my absolute favourite is the Clarins Bronzing Duo in the shade medium, which is probably a tad too light for mum now but will suit her skin for the majority of the year. For blush, we wanted to keep things looking quite natural so we went for Benefit Dallas as it has quite a browny undertone to it which looked so good with her tan! We wanted to give her a good glow, so we used the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze which suits her way more than it suits me and she has therefore inherited that!
Like me, Mum loves to have her eyebrows looking well groomed and to do this we always use the Clarins Eyebrow Palette. Now we have an older edition than this one, however the colours inside are still the same, I believe it’s just the packaging that’s changed. We mix the light and the medium shade together to fill in her brows and then comb through them with the spooly and some of the clear wax. This keeps them looking neat and tidy but stops them looking too bold as Mum does have lovely light hair.
Now onto the eyes, like me, Mum has really bright blue eyes and she also wears RayBan glasses, so we like to try and make her eye colour pop even behind her thick frames. Therefore, we chose lovely golden colours that complement blue eyes amazingly! For this we used the Clarins Eyeshadow that she bought a few weeks ago. If you’d like to read a full review, I have written one here.
I used the lightest matte shade (Far left) as a base and pressed the chunky coppery gold shade (in the middle) all over the lid. I buffed this out and to be honest, I was satisfied with how it looked from just these two shades. They really made her eyes look very blue! Here’s how looked on Mum:
To finish the eyes off we used Maybelline Master Drama eyeliner in black on the upper and lower waterline and then used Benefit Roller Lash on her top and bottom lashes. Mum loves this mascara as it really lengthens her lashes without them looking clumpy, thankfully I inherited my long eye lashes from Mum so we rarely find a mascara that doesn’t work for us!
Finally, onto the lips, I convinced Mum to go for a subtle red shade as I love the combination of golden eyeshadow and a red lip, I think it looks so classy! We used the No7 Poppy King Lip Crayon Raindrops Collection in the darker red shade ‘Skipping’. I believe these were limited edition so I am really sorry about that, but you can still get a few colours on Boots USA or Amazon. They are quite pigmented but leave more of a glossy stain so are a bit more subtle if you don’t want to go for an all out bold red lip! I thought it looked great on Mum and really pulled the whole look together.
Finally, onto her outfit of the evening! I thought she looked absolutely gorgeous and I wanted to show you guys too!

I hope you like this post as it is a little bit different to anything I have written on here before but both Mum and I wanted to feature her on my blog so I thought this was the perfect time! Would you like to see more looks on Mum in the future? Perhaps some of my slightly older readers would like to hear about her skincare routine? Let me know in the comments!
