March Empties 2016

Another month has come and gone and now we are finally heading into spring! I love spring as it’s lighter, getting warmer and all the flowers are out which makes everything seem so much better right? I’m off to America and Canada on Monday so you probably won’t hear from me for a while now unless I can get a few posts done before I go, but I guarantee a heap of posts when I get back! This months empties has quite a lot of make up products in which is good as I definitely need to finish a few things off! Here’s what I’ve finished off this month:

  • Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 100 Ivory – If you’re not bored of hearing me ramble on about this now then I salute you! This post talks about my love for this foundation so I won’t go into it all over again, but make sure you check it out if you want to try an amazing foundation! I have already repurchased this again as I just can’t be without it. Check out my haul to see what else I picked up at the same time!
  • NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla– This concealer made it into my concealer collab with Valentina and quite rightly so. I have loved the effect of this concealer however it is a little too expensive for me right now so I won’t be buying this again for a while as I have just picked up the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer again!
  • No 7 High Shine Lip Crayon in Delicate Pink – I’m not really one for highly glossy lips unless its red, however this colour was great for just slapping on on no-makeup-makeup days. It was very comfortable on the lips and the colour was a lovely fresh pink shade. This was a half size version from a gift with purchase but the full size is available for £9.00. I won’t be purchasing the full size though as I have way too many lip products to warrant buying it again! Oops!
  • Lancôme Hypnôse Star Mascara Mini – This is the final mini Lancôme mascara to finish up and I have to say I have enjoyed using them all! The brush on this one was quite odd though as it was almost flat! It took a bit of getting used to but by the end I was sad that I had finished it off! I would say that Lancôme make some of my favourite mascaras and I will definitely be purchasing some of them again in the future once I have finished my plethora of mascara minis off!
  • No 7 Stay Perfect Shade And Define in Velvet Truffle – I bought this using one of the No 7 £3 off coupons, as with my discount it only cost £3.20 rather than £8,not really expecting much and I have to say I really liked it! I used it as an eyeliner rather than an eyeshadow stick and it created a lovely soft smokey liner effect that lasted all day. The shade is a mixture of brown and grey with little subtle flecks of gold in and I loved it. I wore it as eyeliner everyday when I was wearing my MAC Woodwinked shadow and it was such an easy look! I have some other eyeliners to finish off at the moment but I think I would pick this up again when the offer comes back around!
  • Caudalie Beauty Elixir – I wrote a whole post on whether I thought this was worth the hype or not, explaining that it is a bit of a nothingy product. However I love the scent and the whole process of spraying it on my face that I succumbed to buying a replacement in my latest haul. I am such a sucker for packaging and scents!! This did last me from January to now though and I was quite liberal with the spritzing!
  • The Body Shop Frosted Plum Shower Gel – Now you all know my empties posts wouldn’t be complete without a Body Shop shower gel in!! This was one of the Christmas scents and I have to say it was probably my least favourite of the three. It was a bit floral for my liking and I don’t think I will be purchasing it again at Christmas. The Frosted Cranberry and Glazed Apple are definitely more my cup of tea!
  • Dove Invisible Dry Deodorant Stick – This also appeared in my January Empties and has quickly become my favourite deodorant to use. The stick format is really nice to use and the scent is nice and fresh so you don’t become fed up of it by the end of the stick. I think I will be repurchasing this for quite a while as I haven’t found one that has matched this for me yet. It is only £2.79 from Boots so definitely give it a try if you are looking for a new deodorant!

Have you tried any of these products? If so what did you think of them? See you in a months time for more empties!

My Favourite Concealers – Collab With Valentina!

Valentina and I have come together today to share with you our favourite concealers! Concealer is something I use every day and has become quite a necessity in my makeup bag – particularly to cover those pesky under-eye circles and any blemishes! Make sure you head over to her blog to check out her post too!

I think I have narrowed my concealer favourites down to three:

  1. Clarins Instant Concealer – This is such a good allrounder! It packs a serious punch with pigmentation, is a lovely creamy consistency and doesn’t dry out the skin! I use the lightest shade which matches my skin perfectly but unfortunately there are only 3 shades! In addition to that, my mum wears shade 3 when she has a tan so this is not suitable for you lovely ladies with darker skin tones sadly. This retails for £21.50 so it is not too cheap but this little tube lasts ages as a tiny bit goes a very long way!
  2. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer – I picked this up just after Christmas and I really have enjoyed using it! It is pigmented, brightening and blends in beautifully, especially with a beauty blender! There are a couple of downsides though! Firstly, I have run out of this really quickly! Now I don’t know about you but when I spend £22.50 on a concealer, I’d like it to last a while! Secondly, the doe foot applicator doesn’t pick up enough product in my opinion! And Finally, I wouldn’t call this concealer ‘Radiant’ so the name annoys me! All that being said, I LOVE this concealer! It is great under my eyes and also for adding a subtle highlight if you use a slightly lighter shade. I wear the shade Vanilla and find this a great match for me!
  3. Rimmel Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer – Eugh, this is just such an amazing product at such a bargain price! Contrary to most people’s opinions, I like the little brush applicator as it allows me to distribute the product evenly without using my fingers. This is very creamy and provides really good coverage which is really important for me! I use a lot of this every day and it still manages to last me a good couple of months each tube. The best part is that this is only £5.99!! I could almost have 4 of these for the price of one NARS! I wear the shade 010 Ivory and this is perfect for providing a highlight whilst not washing me out.

There are a couple of others that require a little mention though:

  • MAC Pro Longer Concealer – I used this a while ago and did love it! The texture was very light and the colour was a great match. The main thing that has stopped me buying it again though was the packaging! The thin glass container was just so impractical that I feared I would smash it every time I used it. I also hated the pump as one pump was way too much product so you had to try and do half and pump and it got all messy. The packaging also meant you couldn’t get the last of the product out. So although the product really impressed me, the packaging was rubbish. If MAC swapped the packaging over I would buy this again in a heart beat! This is only £17.50 and lasts forever! I wore the shade NC15 I believe.
  • Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – Every blogger and their Mum has talked about this concealer and rightly so as it is a saviour in the bargain beauty world. For the pricey amount of £4.19 you get a concealer that really rivals the big names I have mentioned above. It is very creamy and highly pigmented and manages to last a surprisingly long time, even with constant use. The applicator picks up the perfect amount of product and the texture is really blendable. The packaging is pretty rubbish, I have never met someone who hasn’t had all the writing rub off their tube, but hey ho, it’s £4.19!! I feel like I wear the shade Cool Medium 2 but it has been a long time since I’ve picked up one of these babies as I am always trying something new!

I hope you have found this post useful and be sure to check out Valentina’s post too to compare her favourites to mine! If you have tried any of these, let me know what you thought of them in the comments!

Yorkshire Haul- Featuring MAC, Rimmel, Caudalie and More!

There are two things to address before I start this post:

  1. I know I’m going to New York and I am meant to be on a no-buy so sorry-not-sorry.
  2. I also know it’s been a little MAC heavy over here recently but I am a little obsessed with their products at the moment so hopefully you can all just roll with it till the obsession has wavered slightly!

So I am up north at the moment and have done a little bit of shopping. Oops! I think i’ll split this post up into where I bought things from so I’ll start with the MAC goodies I found! On Friday I decided to pay a trip to the York Designer Outlet with Tom to see if they had any good bargains. I was looking to just wander really but I stumbled across a cosmetic store that stocked MAC products at outlet prices and the rest as they say is history. Here’s the goodies I managed to find:IMG_0468_Fotor.jpg

  • Pro Longwear Waterproof Brow Set in Emphatically Blonde WAS £14 PAID £10 – I have been looking for a new brow gel and wanted one with a colour in this time. I had to take a bit of a guess on the colour, but I think I could maybe have gone a bit darker but I will only know once I’ve tried it on. The little brush looks great for brushing through the hairs so I’m looking forward to trying it!
  • Eye Brows Pencil in Delineated WAS £14 PAID £10 – I haven’t used a pencil brow product in ages so I thought I would give this a try. This will be perfect to take to New York so I don’t have to take extra brushes and bulky products. I think the colour is a nice ashy shade and not too warm so it should work well! I tried this for the first time this morning and the colour is actually a really good match. I would say it hasn’t beaten my Benefit or Smashbox eyebrow powders but it is nice all the same!
  • Studio Moisture Cream/Sized To Go WAS £10 PAID £7.50 – I’m not gonna lie, I picked this up thinking it was strobe cream!! I was a little disappointed at first but on second thoughts, I have never tried MAC skincare so I am looking forward to giving it a go. I will take it to New York as it is a handy size! On first impressions, a little goes a very long way and it feels lovely and moisturising! I will keep you posted on this one!
  • Wash & Dry Blush in Crisp Whites WAS £20 PAID £14 – I never managed to get my hands on anything from the wash and dry collection, but this caught my eye as I haven’t got anything like it. It is a really lovely subtle peach blush that is actually quite pigmented! I will wear this when I am wearing a warm toned colour palette. So think MAC Woodwinked Eyeshadow, MAC Kinda Sexy Lipstick and MAC Soft & Gentle Highlighter!  I also really like the funky packaging! If you still want to get your hands on this, you can get it from Selfridges online.

Total savings: £16.50

When I got to my Grandparents, I realised I hadn’t brought a blush with me! I don’t know how I managed it but naturally, this meant I had to go and buy one! Heading into Boots always leads to multiple purchases so I did end up with more than one item:IMG_0076

  • Rimmel Lasting Finish Mono Blush in Live Pink £3.99 (3 for 2) – I did’t want to spend much as I have a tonne of blushes at home so I went for Rimmel as it was cheap and cheerful. I also picked my Nan one up in the shade Santa Rose. I have to say I am seriously impressed with this blush and this will 100% be coming to New York with me! It is in a really small packaging which is great for travel but it very pigmented, blends like a dream and lasts all day. I’m so happy I picked this up and I would like to try the other colours!
  • Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation £7.99 (3 for 2) – I have to say the Rimmel are fast becoming my favourite Drugstore brand. Everything I try from them just exceeds my expectations! This is a repurchase for me as I simply cannot live without this foundation. I buy the shade 100 Ivory which is the second lightest shade. I am recommending this to absolutely everyone and so far everyone who has gone on to pick it up loves it too!
  • Rimmel Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer £5.99 (3 for 2) – This concealer was in my February Empties and since my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is running out, I decided to opt for this one again as it is a lot cheaper! I buy the shade 010 Ivory which I find to be perfect for me and is a touch lighter than the foundation I buy. I like to put quite a bit of concealer on and I find that this one never looks cakey and blends in perfectly so I don’t mind the fact that it runs out reasonably quickly as it is such a reasonable price!

Total savings: £3.99

The final bit of shopping I did was a trip into Harrogate with my Auntie Susie. We had a lovely girly day including a nice little trip to Betty’s Tea Rooms for lunch. If you haven’t been there then you really need to! It is one of my favourite places and it feels like you have stepped back in time! I was a bit naughty and picked up a few things there too:

  • Caudalie Must Have Set £22 – I was running out of the Caudalie Beauty Elixir and despite saying it was a bit of ‘does nothing’ product, I still wanted another bottle! The beauty elixir on its own is £11.50 but this set was £22 and included a few other products! Inside the set is the beauty elixir, a lip balm, a hand cream, moisturising sorbet and a cleansing milk. I thought the little makeup bag and some of the minis inside would be great to take to New York and it was also great value for money!
  • Ren Glow & Go Kit £14 (RRP £21.34) – The Ren 1 Minute Flash Facial has quickly become my favourite face mask ever and I have been wanting to try the Glycolactic Radiance Renewal face mask too so this set was perfect for me! It has 20ml of each face mask inside which is a great saving and I can’t wait to try it out! If you haven’t tried Ren face masks then I would definitely recommend them!
  • H & M Hobo Bag With Fringes £24.99 PAID £19.99 – My Auntie got me this as my Easter present and I am in love! It is a small black bag with fringing and it is going to be perfect fro spring and summer. You can find it on H&M’s website here but randomly it was only £19.99 in store. I have had a bag like this from H&M before but the zip broke so I have been looking for a replacement for about 2 years! This is just perfect!
  • Neom Burst of Energy – Intensive Energy Boosting Treatment £8 – I am not usually one to buy heavily scented things but this little roll-on smelt absolutely gorgeous! It has oils from Grapefruit, Lemon and Rosemary amongst others and is said to boost your energy as the scents are so invigorating. This was the other part of my Easter present from my Auntie Susie so thank you! I will be taking this to New York to use when I am feeling sleepy on the different journeys! If you wanted to pick it up, you can get it from the Neom website here.
  • Primark Black Printed Mesh Trainers £12 – I picked these up to wear in New York as I never wear trainers and didn’t want to fork out over £70 for some Nikes. These actually look a lot more expensive than they were and I will wear them to the gym once I’m back too as the colours match all my gym gear, particularly the pop of orange. They were so comfy too so hopefully they will be good for when I’m walking miles whilst I’m away.R35397116152347-large

Total savings: £12.34

That’s all the bits and pieces I have picked up whilst I’ve been staying with my family in Yorkshire. I didn’t plan to spend this much to be honest but some things are for my trip and others were repurchases that I had run out of. Have you tried any of these products? What do you think of them?

Review: MAC Kinda Sexy Lipstick

So a couple of weeks ago I wrote my MAC Lipstick collection post and I said not to expect any new lipsticks any time soon…. Well that was until my brother Alfie bought me my next one! Now Alfie is a normal sporty 15 year old brother, however, he is fully aware of my obsession with makeup. As a thank you for helping him with some school work, he decided to pick me up a MAC lipstick! What’s even better and makes it more special for me is that he picked the shade himself! I know, I am a lucky sister!! IMG_0429.JPG

The shade he chose was MAC Kinda Sexy which is a matte formula, but I would say it is the most comfortable MAC matte I own. It is very creamy and very comfortable on the lips whilst still managing to look lovely and matte! The colour itself is very peachy and looks a lot like a more pigmented version of my favourite neutral, Shanghai Spice. The colour looks great with my pale skin tone, however I do think it would suit a lot of people. I have actually tried this on one of my best friends Fee and also my Auntie Susie and it looks great on both of them too.

The lasting power of this lipstick is very similar to the other matte shades I own, however, it fades very evenly and also applies incredibly smoothly. It doesn’t stick to dry patches and you don’t have to use a lip liner with this either. The colour looks beautiful with warm toned eye looks such as MAC Woodwinked eye shadow (see the picture below), but it also looks great with a dark smokey eye. I have had so much wear out of this lipstick in the two weeks that I have owned it and I sure that will continue. IMG_0431.JPG

I wonder how long it will be now until the next lipstick is added?! Do you have this shade in your collection? What do you think of it?

The Travel Diaries: Prague December 2015

I am always so late with my Travel Diaries posts as I like to look back a few months later and reflect on the trip and look at the photos all over again. I know that is a bit of a poor excuse but here I am, finally writing about my trip to Prague with my friend Emily in December! It was so christmassy and I thought I would use this as another excuse for quite a heavy picture post with a few helpful tips for anyone visiting Prague themselves!

Where to stay? – We stayed in the Hotel K + K Fenix which was just off St Wenceslas square! It was a great location to get to everything, was really cheap and served a lovely breakfast! It was 4 star and the rooms were perfect for a getaway! The only thing I would say was that it was on a road that specialised in the ‘cabaret’ aka sex clubs and there was also a delightful sex shop with a 50 shades of grey window display. We had no problem whatsoever though and found the whole thing rather funny! Don’t let it put you off, it is very safe and the location is very central!

What to see? – We were there Monday to Friday and managed to cram quite a lot into our time there! Definitely take a visit up to the Castle District and see the castle, the views are incredible and the architecture is lovely!

P1010131.jpg
Standard tourist pic in the guards huts at the castle!

Right near the castle district is Petrin hill which is quite a hike but worth it for the views! It was lovely to get out in the fresh air and see all over Prague!

IMG_0176.JPG
This was us after the long walk to the top of Petrin Hill!

The Charles Bridge is the main bridge in Prague and has a lot of lovely statues to see. It is really quite impressive to look at and gives you great views up and down the river.

IMG_4923.JPG
Charles Bridge

Right near the Charles Bridge is the John Lennon wall which is just a wall covered in graffiti but is actually pretty impressive and is something you should see. When we went there was a lovely man with a guitar singing songs he John Lennon had written which really added to the site.

IMG_0187.JPG

The old town square is definitely worth a visit! It has a beautiful church and there’s an astronomical clock which puts on a little show every hour!

The Astronomical Clock!

There is also a tower which you can climb up to the top of and see fantastic 360 degree views of Prague!

IMG_5098.jpg
Prague Castle from the tower in Old Town Square

It is definitely worth a trip to the top and doesn’t cost very much! In winter, this is where some of the main market stalls are and the huge christmas tree is here too!

IMG_4968.jpg
The Beautiful Christmas Tree in Old Town Square!

Just off the old town square is one of the best shopping streets, where all the top designers such as Dior are. It is amazing, even just to window shop!!

During the Christmastime, try and go and see a traditional Czech music concert. There are many put on in the big churches that are quite expensive and not that authentic, but we managed to find a local music school’s christmas carol concert. It was absolutely amazing and the singing was just beautiful. If you can find something like this, you will not be disappointed. It really felt like you were immersed in the culture and it really got me in the christmassy spirit!

The Christmas Concert

Something Extra? If you like cocktails then definitely take a trip to AnonymouS. It is a really cool bar that makes really cool cocktails whilst creating a really unique experience for you to enjoy! When we went, their new menu was on slide viewers and the cocktails we tasted were so different to those at home!

Viewing the menu!

One even came in a blood bag and was dripped into your glass!

IMG_5064.jpg
Our drinks a.k.a blood bag!

This is one of the most pricy places we went to eat or drink but it was no more expensive than your usual cocktail at home so it wasn’t that expensive. The whole bar is themed around the film V for Vendetta with some of the barmen wearing the masks and the film playing on screens around the bar. When we went there was a power cut and the barmen donned their masks and started making cocktails and doing tricks with fire which was both rather creepy and exciting at the same time!!

Here’s a couple of photos I had to include:

My MAC Shopping List For New York!

Now, I cannot believe I am saying this but it is now less than 2 weeks until I go to New York and I am so so excited! I have dreamt of going to America, particularly New York, since I was a little girl and I can’t believe that dream is finally going to come true! I have been trying to save up as much money as I can to be able to go pretty wild when treating myself out there! I want to try and pick up some new brands that we can’t get at home like Tarte and Physicians Formula but I also want to try and clear my MAC shopping list to keep me satisfied for a while as the prices are just so much cheaper in the States than in the UK. So I thought I’d make a little post with all the MAC products I want to try and pick up when I’m there! Please excuse the pictures in this post, as I haven’t got the products yet I have had to use stock images or found through Google*.

  • Fix + Travel Spray 31iF56IwPWL._SY355_I have never tried the infamous Fix+ but I have always wanted to so I think it may be time to pick one up. This travel size is only $10 so this is a good way of trying it out to see if I like it. I love face sprays so I think I will end up getting this in full size when I’m back in the UK too.
  • Strobe Cream Travel Size _7125203Again this is another staple that I have never tried and to be honest i’m not entirely sure why I haven’t. I love dewy/glowy skin so I think this will work great. I can imagine a little going quite a long way with this so I think the travel size will work just fine for me now. This one is also $10.
  • New York Apple Lipstick img-thingI couldn’t go to New York and not pick up a ‘makeup momento’ now could I?! It turns out that this is the only MAC lipstick with ‘New York’ in the title but the colour looks beautiful! It is a deep red/pink colour with slight glitter flecks running through it which I think will look beautiful! I saw this used in a Pixiwoo tutorial and just fell in love! MAC lipsticks are $17.50 for you brits, who like me, have no idea on the pricing over there!
  • Whirl Lipliner img-thing-2 I have whirl lipstick and really want the matching lipliner to make my lips look fuller and the application look smoother. As whirl started out as a lipliner, I am pretty confident that as I love the lipstick, the lipliner will work just great for me. The Lipliners are $16.50!
  • Stone Lipliner – Again, this is very much like whirl – I have the lipstick and now I want to get the matching liner to ensure perfect application. I am a huge lover of the shade stone so I can’t wait to get my hands on this!
  • Soar Lipliner – My tutee Lauren recommended this liner to go alongside brave and to be honest I didn’t need a lot of persuading. I have loved every MAC product she has recommended to me in the past so I can’t see this being any different!
  • Nightmoth Lipliner nightmoth-lip-linerI really wanted a super dark lipliner to wear with my Viva Glam Ariana Grande lipstick and again, Lauren suggested trying this one. I was toying between this and Vino, but Viva Glam AG is very dark and I think this will match better in the end. I will be doing some swatches in store but I think this will work the best.
  • Club Eyeshadow Pan mac_sku_M2593X_280x320_0If you haven’t guessed by the amount of eyeshadows in this list, I am planning on making a MAC eyeshadow palette (Finally!!). I am one of those people who hate palettes being half empty so I’m going to have to do it all in one go! Club is a shade that I have been pining over for YEARS now. Ever since Lily Pebbles and Vivianna started mentioning it, I knew it was meant to be. Club is a satin, red brown with green pearl and looks beautiful blended out on it’s own. The refill pans have now gone down to only $6 so I cannot wait to get my hands on these babies!!
  • Satin Taupe Eyeshadow Pan 31VmzpwdfKL I feel that everyone needs a taupe shade in their collection and years of watching YouTube has lead me to believe that this is the one to have. Tanya Burr always used to go on about the combination of Satin Taupe and Naked Lunch so they both have obviously had to make an appearance in this wish list!
  • Naked Lunch Eyeshadow Pan 31sFQCashnL._SY300_Following on from Satin Taupe, this is a YouTubers favourite and no palette would be complete without a pinky shimmer in there. I feel that this will be a good staple to throw on when I don’t know what to wear.
  • All That Glitters Eyeshadow Pan 06ebf680376f1fc8a89b4663eb9c497bWho doesn’t love a good nude shimmer eyeshadow?! I feel like this will feature in a lot of looks but also will work really well on it’s own for a more dressed down look or perhaps for work? I have always been a big shimmer lover so this will surely be a hit for me. Over the years my palette plan has changed but this has always been in it!
  • Cranberry Eyeshadow Pan 093cacc503371a2d510aa1c8fe78a50bThis is one of my ‘pops of colour’ that I want to add as I want to be able to cover all bases with this palette! Cranberry is a shade that does get talked about a lot as it is quite a wearable yet bold shade. I think this will look great with my blue eyes and I can’t wait to play around with it.
  • Amber Lights Eyeshadow Pan 175fcbe89cf80362d8bb977c14a30923 I already have woodwinked in my collection but I feel the extra bright amber lights is still needed. I love the way the orangey copper tones look with my skin and eye colour so I feel like this is a must have for me.
  • Sumptuous Olive Eyeshadow Pan mac-sumptuous-olive-eyeshadow-closeup I wanted a couple of slightly different shades in this palette and for it not to just be browns and golds like everyone expects. This is a veluxe pearl shadow which I love the formula of and the colour would look great with blue eyes in my opinion.
  • Carbon Eyeshadow Pan 31x2gy3ArGLThis is a staple that I have been told everyone needs in their palette. Who can argue with a matte black eyeshadow hey? This will work as an eyeliner but also for creating extra smokey looks by popping this in the outer corner. It will definitely get a lot of use.
  • Wedge Eyeshadow Pan c330a2ca52a63c0a55a016527d700795I thought that this would be a good crease shade as it is a more ashy brown colour so would look good with slightly cooler colours. I know crease shades are kind of boring but every palette needs them and this gets some serious hype!
  • Nylon Eyeshadow Pan e5062310d757b6f4c54d3d0142244e2cI have heard that this is THE inner corner highlight to have in your palette and I did think that I needed one. More of a frosty shade than some of the warmer shimmers I have picked, I think this will work really well.
  • Cork Eyeshadow Pan  31nzHTyIMgLA nice warm satin brown shade that again will work wonders as a transition shade. I do think that this will complement a lot of the warmer tones like woodwinked and Amber lights really well.
  • Sable Eyeshadow Pan 819225673e3974a9e0f18540833bd13bEvery time I see this swatched I just swoon. It is such a beautiful warm shade that I think I will get a tonne of wear of, particularly on a daily basis and in Autumn and Winter. It is a plum/brown shade with some gold shimmer running through it and just looks gorgeous!
  • Mulch Eyeshadow Pan mac-mulchThis is a more chocolatey version of Sable and is quite a bit darker. I think it will look god blended with some lighter shades and will be another staple.
  • Patina Eyeshadow Pan 31YQHUOU-PL I wanted to get Patina as it is more of a cooler toned lighter shade and I thought it would blend really well with some of the others on the list. This is another Lily Pebbles recommendation so I am hoping that it will suit my colouring as I am the opposite of Lily! My eyeshadows on this list may change once I get to the shop but this is my basic list to take with me so i’m not just walking around picking up shadows willy-nilly!

So there you have it, my rather extensive MAC shopping list for my trips to the States. I know it may seem like an awful lot of things but I have worked out that there is over £100 saving from buying it in the states to buying it at home! I have been building this list for a while so I guess i’ll just have to see what I can get when I’m there! Is there any brand that you can only get in America or Canada that you think I need to try? I want to really go to town with new makeup when I go! I’ve been on a makeup no-buy (the only exception being a restock of my rimmel match perfection foundation and a rimmel blusher as I forgot to take blusher to my grandparents!) so I may go a tad cray cray when I get to the shops!! Be prepared for some big hauls when I get back!

Much Love

Current Favourites

I realised recently that I never really write favourites posts on this blog. To be honest, I think it’s because they could become quite repetitive as I can’t afford to buy copious amounts of new products in order to rotate my favourites frequently enough! However, there have been quite a few things over the last few weeks that have firmly rooted themselves into my life and I thought I would share them all with you. Some of these things you may recognise and others have never been mentioned before, which I though was a good way of mixing it up! I’ve gone through my whole face of makeup and theres a few extras in there for good measure!

  • Mascara – Benefit Roller Lash – I have been a strong advocate for this mascara ever since I first got my hands on it. It grips the lashes and gives them a good coating of mascara whilst still adding length and curl. I do really enjoy using this mascara and love the fluttery look it gives me each day!
  • Foundation – Rimmel Match Perfection – Dare I say the words ‘holy’ and ‘grail’ ?! My absolute favourite foundation at the moment, hands down. I would say I have less than a third of a bottle left so I will probably have to repurchase this soon, if I can warrant it with all my other foundations!! It gives a good level of coverage whilst being dewy, yet with a satin finish. The colour is the perfect match for me and it lasts great throughout the day. My skin looks so healthy and fresh with this that I find myself reaching for this all the time over my high end foundations!IMG_0076
  • Highlight – MAC Soft & Gentle – I bought this as a little revision treat for myself after a discussion with Lauren, a lovely girl I tutor (Hi if you happen to read this!!). She convinced me to spend my Christmas voucher on this and I have never looked back since! From never wearing highlighter, I am now rather heavy handed with it! I am going to write a post solely dedicated to this but it is one of my most used products at the moment!
  • Lipliner – No7 Nude – I have read so much about this shade on many many blogs and decided it was time to pick it up. It is a great nude shade, although I don’t own it, I would say it’s a pretty good match for velvet teddy. The formula is lovely and creamy and blends really well with all my nude shades of lipstick. I particularly love it underneath Shanghai Spice!
  • Concealer – NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – I picked this up before Christmas and I have to say I’m pretty smitten with it! I really like the blendability, coverage and colour match. Yes, it’s a bit pricey but I love the way it looks on my skin – a little brightening and makes me look more awake!
  • Lipstick – MAC Brave – Lipstick is always a hard choice, however I would say I have reached for this the most over the last month. I love the satin formula and this shade goes with absolutely any makeup look! It is low maintenance and also looks lovely with a couple of different lipliner shades to change the tone slightly. This comes up quite pink on me and I always reach for this when I’m not sure what else to wear! Check out my MAC Lipstick collection to read more about this and other shades!
  • Eyeshadow – MAC Woodwinked – I think I can honestly say that I wear this shade 5/7 days a week at the moment. It is such a fantastic low maintenance option when you don’t want to apply loads of colours or you haven’t got time to do anything fancy. You can create an amazing smoky golden look in seconds and I also love to add a little bit of Soft & Gentle to the inner corner to open my eyes up a little. The sad thing is I have severely hit pan on this so it could be a trip back to MAC to get another one in the not so distant future! If you want to read more on this then check out this postIMG_0567
  • Palette – Smashbox #Shapematters Palette – I would say I mainly use the face shades from this over the eyeshadows but in general, it is a fantastic investment palette! It is great for travelling as it pretty much has everything! I’m going to go into detail on my favourite products below but I would definitely recommend this palette!
  • Contour – Smashbox Contour Powder – This powder is from the palette above and is the perfect ashy contour shade! The pigmentation is spot on, a little goes a very long way and the formula is really blendable. If I am at home I always use this to contour my cheekbones and down my nose – I feel like this is worth buying the whole palette for as it is such a great product.
  • Brows – Smashbox Brow Powder – This has overtaken my Benefit Brow Zings in the best brow product category. The palette has two shades in it but I have been using the light one mainly as I am quite fair. However, it is still a reasonably dark shade and it is so easy to fill in even sparse areas of the brows!
  • Blush – Clarins Soft Peach 02 – I only have a sample size of this but they last AGES! The colour gives a lovely peachy flush to the cheeks whilst still looking natural. The pan has two shades, a darker and a lighter peach, which you can mix together to create the perfect shade. The formula is great and blends like a dream. Definitely check out the Clarins Blush and Bronzers as in my opinion they are some of the best!
  • Tools – Beauty Blender & Smash Box Dual Ended Brush – My love of the Beauty Blender has been growing ever since I first posted about it. My skin looks more flawless and smooth, which is always a good thing in my eyes!! The Smash Box Dual Ended Brush included in the #Shapematters palette is my favourite thing to use for my eyebrows! The angled side is the best I have ever used and just fills them in perfectly! I really hope you can buy this separately as I need a backup in my life!IMG_0385
  • Skin Care Product – Ren 1 Minute Flash Facial – Stop right there, this may just be the best face mask I have ever ever used. Now theres a big claim if ever there was one! I was really sceptical of a 1 minute face mask but the benefits are visible that quickly! I am going to write a whole post on this for those of you who are interested but seriously, wow!
  • Hairstyle – Halo Braid/Dutch Braids – I have finally mastered the art of the Halo Braid and I am one proud woman. It is so nice to have my hair off my face whilst still looking like I’ve actually bothered to make an effort. It gets easier the more you practice it and the one in this picture was actually only my second attempt. If I can do it, you can!!Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset
  • Song – Focus / Judgement Day – I don’t know what it is, but I have a bit of a love for Ariana Grande! I know it’s not a new song particularly but I have been OBSESSED with her song Focus. I literally fantasise about looking as good as she does in that video and I cannot help but sing along. The other song I have just discovered is Judgement Day by Stealth. This was in the penultimate episode of this season of Suits and I couldn’t have picked a more apt song if I tried. It is polar opposite to Focus which is probably why I love it as I am quite open with my music choices. Definitely give it a listen, it is a good’un!
  • Series – Suits, Grey’s Anatomy – Talking about Suits, this season has been bloody good! It has been inevitable that the law would catch up with Mike but this season we see that actually come true and the effects it has on everyone at the firm. You may need some tissues if you are a big lover of the Mike & Rachel ship! The other series I have been loving is Grey’s Anatomy, I mean I must have loved it to stick with it for 12 series’ but I have really liked this series. I was unsure how they would carry on after Derek’s death but they have done good! The series pilot where Meredith was attacked was brilliant and there are so many ships to follow that it will guarantee to keep you busy!
  • Cleanser  – Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Butter – I know I have mentioned this many times before but since attending the Body Shop event earlier on this year I have rediscovered it and fallen back in love. This literally melts makeup off and is so so easy to use. It is a bargain price and I would recommend everyone to try it if you haven’t!

I hope you have enjoyed this up-to-date favourites post! What have you been loving recently? Would you like to see these more often (if my favourites change enough!!).

Much Love

xoxo
