Review: MAC Vibe Tribe Lipstick in Painted Sunset

No I do not need anymore MAC lipsticks, neither do I have the money to pay for them now, however, I still find myself picking more up. Bad Molly. However, I got swept away with the style of Milan and picked myself up one more and this time from a limited collection!

Other than my Viva Glam Ariana Grande lipstick, I have never bought any lipsticks from limited edition collections but both the colour and the packaging really drew me in on this one! There were five lip colours in the Vibe Tribe collection and I have to say that Hot Chocolate was my first choice but it has been out of stock everywhere since the word go! I didn’t particularly like the paler colours and I didn’t think I needed another red shade in my collection. Boy was I wrong.

When I first swatched this shade, I fell completely in love. It is quite a true red yet has orangey undertones in that I love! I actually was a bit worried that it was going to be too similar to Morange, however, as you can see from the swatches below they are in fact very different!

On the left is Morange and the right is Painted Sunset – both amplified finishes!

It is an amplified finish so is intensely pigmented and creamy and a dream to apply! It isn’t a matte finish which is a nice change for this time of the year and feels very smooth on the lips! Another bonus to this shade is that it makes my teeth look whiter which is always a plus with a lipstick!IMG_1040.JPG

The final, obvious, thing to comment on with this lipstick is the packaging. Now I know there has been a lot of controversy about the packaging but personally I love it! It is a really nice aztec style print that is really different to the usual MAC packaging. I really loved the majority of this collection and the overall style of it was very chic! If i’d had enough funds I would definitely have picked up the quad in the shade Call of the Canyon as the colours were stunning and swatched beautifully!

Did you get anything from this collection? What do you think of the collection in general?

Much Love

  2. Amplified finish is one of my favourites from MAC – this shade is stunning on you! 🙂 I’m not drawn to this collection at all. I’m not a fan of the packaging… and overall I didn’t see any colours that I “needed”.

    1. Thank you, I know some people have really not been a fan of the packaging its been quite a controversial one! I know what you mean about the colours. initially only hot chocolate drew me in but watching this I saw it was actually quite different to others I have! xx

  3. I heard about the controversy but I feel there are just people being too sensitive. Fashion and beauty industry always got inspiration from all kinds of places. This is just one of them and they did it very well, in my opinion.

I saw the new collection only online, but maybe I will pay a visit to the MAC store for a belated birthday gift from myself 🙂 But feel this collection is more appropriate for people with blue eyes. I’m afraid it won’t look OK on me with my deep brown eyes and pale skin.

    1. I feel the same about the packaging, I think it’s really tasteful and appropriate for the collection! I didn’t think there was anything I fancied really but swatching this one changed my mind. The paler shades do nothing for me as they just wash me out as i’m so fair! xx
