Last month I was really lucky to win a prize from the fabulous Gigi from Beauty By Gigi. I think I have only won one blog giveaway prior to this so I was super excited to receive it! For the prize I was able to pick a MAC lipstick of my choice and I also won a Charlotte Tilbury Cat Eyes To Hypnotise set. I’ve been so excited to share this post with you and let you all know what I thought of the items!
First things first, what lipstick did I pick? I have always got a MAC lipstick list on my computer for lucky occasions such as this so I very quickly selected Verve from the list. Now Verve is a satin shade that is darker and more plummy than Whirl but not as plummy as Rebel. It is almost ashy in tone like Stone yet doesn’t come across as grey at all. In other words, it is a very complicated shade to describe! MAC describe it as a ‘muted brownish-plum’ which is probably quite apt but it definitely comes across more purple on me than the swatches online show. To be honest, I like it better on me than in some of the swatch pictures so I’m happy. my fair skin always makes shades come off darker than they are so it was no surprise really.
The formula is great, satin is definitely one of my favourite finishes of all time. The pigmentation is of course spot-on too which is to be expected of MAC lipsticks. I have tried applying this on it’s own and it applied reasonably smoothly, not the smoothes ever but definitely not the worst. I have also applied it with Nightmoth Lipliner which is definitely darker but it works a treat! I was so happy with how it made it look and it upped the intensity of the purple tones in the lipstick too which I loved! Overall, a shade I am really happy to have in my collection and if you like darker tones then this could be a great option for you!
The other item was the Cat Eyes to Hypnotise set in the shade The Huntress + Amber Moon. This is a black golden brown shadow with black undertones, designed to allow you to create a smoky cat eye look with just one shadow. It also comes with a liner which again is black based but has a golden pigment to it that is really unusual and very flattering! I own another one of these in the shade Silver Leopard + Black Magic so I knew I loved the formula! It is nice to have a single eyeshadow that is designed to be used with your finger as it makes it really convenient for travelling or a quick makeup look. The eyeliners are probably my favourite item in this duo as they are so so creamy and set in place all day. Seriously, they do not budge! It is so easy to create a lovely smooth line with these and they are intensely pigmented! The liner and the shadow complement each other beautifully and combine to create a simple yet very striking look.
I was so happy to win this prize and I wanted to take the time to thank Gigi again for hosting such a fantastic and generous giveaway! It really was a nice surprise just before my exams began! Have you tried either of these products? If so what did you think of them?
