Back when I was in New York I decided it was about time I jumped on the bandwagon and picked up one of the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. Despite the huge array of colours available, I opted for one of the new ones from the Chocolate range! The shade I picked up was Melted Chocolate Honey and I thought it was about time I did a little review for you all to let you know whether it is worth the hype or not!
First things first, I love the packaging. I like the squeeze tube and sponge applicator as it makes it surprisingly easy to apply! The sponge is nice and soft and fits to the shape of your lip really well ensuring a nice sharp edge and even application. The actual packaging for each lipstick represents the colour chosen so mine is a light caramel brown colour which I actually quite like! The lid screws on nice a tightly too to ensure those awful ‘dust in lip product’ moments are a thing of the past!
The next thing to mention is the smell. It has that lovely fake chocolatey smell that a lot of the Too Faced products have and I personally love it. I know it won’t be to everyones taste, however you can’t smell it on the lips so it doesn’t become too much of a problem!
The actual colour itself is gorgeous! It is a very wearable light brown shade that reminds me a little bit of MAC’s Velvet Teddy but slightly more brown. Personally, I feel like this would be too light for dark skin tones but something like Chocolate Cherries would look absolutely incredible instead! On me this is a great nude shade but being the neutral hater that I am, this does come up darker than my natural lips which I really like.
The actual formula is something that has impressed me the most as it is so smooth and creamy to apply! It doesn’t dry down completely matte which I like yet has a slight sheen to it which makes me think of a mix of an amplified and a satin finish. This isn’t the most long wearing product I have tried but it does last a good few hours before becoming a little bit patchy. You can reapply product straight on top without it looking bad which is good in my eyes! These are priced at £19 which is quite expensive in my opinion when you compare it to lip products like MAC’s Lipsticks or Cliniques Lip Pops however I do think you get a lot of product for your money. You get 12ml which is over double what you get in MAC’s Liquid lip colours (they are £21 for 5ml) or Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks (£16 for 3ml!)! For that reason alone I can warrant the price. This tube is going to last me a lifetime! I would like to try some of the other shades from the regular collection but I would also like to try Chocolate Cherries as this looks the most gorgeous colour!
Have you tried any of these liquid lipsticks? If so what colours would you recommend?!
