I’ve recently started using setting sprays nearly every day as I find they really do help to keep my makeup on. I’ve given MAC Fix + a try but find I prefer that for using alongside eyeshadows and I’ve also tried NYX’s offering which I was pleasantly surprised by! One I had never tried but always wanted to was the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. If you read yesterdays post you’ll know all about the event I went to with Lauren last week and this product may have just slipped into my shopping basket!
This is quite a pricey product, retailing for £22 for the full size. I ideally would have preferred to try the travel size for only £9 but they didn’t have that available so I just bit the bullet and handed over my cash. I did get £5 off though making it only £17 instead which is a bit kinder to my purse! You do get a full 118ml of product inside though and a little goes a very long way so I feel like this should last me a good length of time. Urban Decay recommend 2-3 sprays to set your whole face but I do find that I end up using 4-5 just out of sheer enjoyment!
The packaging is a bit nondescript and not very Urban Decay! The white bottle stops you being able to see how much product you have left and it also gets grubby very very quickly. There are also two lids – one over the actual spray and one over the whole thing. In my opinion this is completely pointless and the little lid got thrown away after the first use! The one thing that is amazing about the packaging though is the spray nozzle! This dispenses such a fine and even mist of product that is just perfect! Compared to MAC Fix+ that often blasts you in the face with a direct stream of product this is amazing!
So how did it perform? I decided to put this to the test last week when I went down to London for the day. My makeup was put on at about 7:30am and I got home at 7:30pm so I was putting it to the test really with 12 hours wear and the sweaty tube to contend with! I was seriously impressed with how this made my makeup last though! There was a tiny bit of natural wear and tear as would be expected, this isn’t miracle working glue! However my blush and bronzer were still clearly visible on my cheeks and my foundation had lasted better than normal and I was much less shiny than I normally am at the end of the day. Of all the setting sprays I have tried this has been the best as it also doesn’t leave your skin feeling a little stiff once it sets. However, if you are on a budget, definitely give the NYX sprays a go, although they don’t last quite as long, they still do an incredible job!
Have you tried this spray? Did it work for you? What did you think of it?
