Last Friday I went off to Eden Hall with my Mum for my first ever day spa experience! Eden Hall is a luxury day spa located towards Newark that has won lots of awards over the years for how fabulous it is! I was the lucky recipient of a Day Spa pass from my Godmother for my 21st Birthday and we managed to get mum a pass on the same day on one of their offers! I thought i’d talk you through the day today as I had no idea what to expect when I went and I thought you might like to know what we got up to!
So on the day we were able to get there from 9am so we arrived at 9:30 am to a lovely welcome of cranberry and raspberry tea! The building is absolutely stunning and is set in beautiful grounds that you are able to explore at your leisure. We signed in, got our passes and headed off to find our lockers. Inside all lockers you get a dressing gown and two towels which can be replaced throughout the day as required. There are so many things to do once you get there but we decided to head to all the specialist steam rooms and the pool first. Now the setup in this area is amazing! It has so many little rooms and special showers that you don’t know what to go to first! Our favourites were probably the Herbal Caldarium ,which is like a herbal infused steam room, and a tiled bench where water flowed over the back and your feet were blasted with little jets at the same time! It was so so relaxing.
Afterwards we decided to go for a dip in the pool and we even braved it into the outdoor section which was pretty chilly to say the least but surprisingly very relaxing as it was raining at the time! Probably our favourite place was the outdoor hot tubs. It was so nice to sit in the hot bubbly water whilst the weather outside was cold and rainy. We sat in there until we were all wrinkly but incredibly relaxed!
The great thing about a spa day is that a three course lunch is usually included and we went off to have out lunch upstairs in the beautiful restaurant. It was so weird eating out in a restaurant in your bikini and a dressing gown but it did make it quite funny when you looked around! I had Tomato & Roasted Pepper Soup to start; Mushroom Penne for my main and Coconut Panna Cotta and Pineapple Carpaccio for pudding. It was delicious but I was so so full afterwards! We headed into the lovely conservatory seating area in the afternoon to chill and read our books. It was so relaxing that mum actually fell asleep! We decided to not book any treatments on the day but you could pay extra for those if you wanted. There were also exercise classes but that is SO not relaxing to me!!
We spent the afternoon having a look in the spa shop (a little haul will be posted tomorrow) and then we popped back to the pool for another swim and relaxation session. It’s amazing how many hours you manage to while away whilst doing nothing! We were both so sleepy and relaxed but decided at about 5pm to get ready and heady back up to conservatory for a bellini to end the day on a high! We also had some naughty snacks in the form of macaroons and churros but they were so worth it!
We had such a lovely day and it’s definitely something I would do again in the future. It was great to spend some quality time with my mum and we had a great time along with a lot of laughter which is always important! Have you been to a spa before? Do you have any good recommendations for other places around the country that we should try?
