November Empties 2017

I cannot believe that it is actually December and Christmas is just around the corner! Honestly, where has this year gone?! November has been pretty busy but it’s safe to say i’m ready for the festivities to begin and to have a couple of weeks off work with the family. Of course, the end of the month means it’s empties time again and this months is definitely smaller than the previous two but there’s some interesting bits and pieces to talk about!

Bath & Body

Naturally, there is of course a Body Shop shower gel included in this months empties but this time it’s the limited edition Vanilla Pumpkin scent that was released around Halloween. This is absolutely gorgeous but it’s definitely more of a cream than a gel consistency. I have another bottle of this in reserve but i’d definitely buy more in the future. I have been using this in both the bath and the shower throughout the month and I’ve loved it. I’ve also been using the Oliver Bonas Pink Fizz Bath Salts as they smell absolutely gorgeous. The little box lasted about 6 baths and would make a lovely gift to someone for Christmas.

I’m doing quite well at finishing off all my perfumes at the moment and I’ve sadly come to the end of my bottle of Coach EDP this month. It was a 50ml bottle that I bought in the sale last year and I love it for a nice light everyday scent. The bottle could definitely be a bit more ‘special’ but that aside, I would buy this again. Another regular in these empties posts is of course my trusty Dove deodorant stick. An old favourite and even when I deviate away from this I always end up using it again.

The final ‘body’ product is actually a hand gel from Bath & Bodyworks and I’m actually pretty sad that it’s over. It’s the Stress Relief eucalyptus and spearmint anti bac hand gel. I absolutely love these gels and will always buy them when I go over to the states or Canada. This one is one of the few scents that I don’t get bored of by the end of the bottle and I’m sad to see this go!

I can’t quite remember where I picked up this sample of Omorovicza Intensive Hydralifting Cream but I liked the feel and effects of this moisturiser but the scent was hideous. It smelt incredibly strongly of roses and definitely not in a good way! The scent really lingered on the skin and that alone would 100% put me off buying it. I’ve also just looked and it’s safe to say that the hefty price tag of £130 and upwards for only 50ml has sealed the deal that I will not be buying the full size!

Sticking on the theme of moisturisers, I also finished up a travel size of the Clinique Pep-Start Hydroblur Moisturizer. This was a weird one for me as it was quite mattifying but felt more like a primer than a moisturiser and, in my opinion, it didn’t provide much ‘moisture’. It felt very thick and silicone based when applied to the skin and I didn’t know whether to apply a primer or not after using this. I wouldn’t buy the full size of this to be honest as it’s not the kind of consistency that I like from a moisturiser.

As a lover of sheet masks, I was intrigued to try the Boots Charcoal and Willow Bark one that Tom brought home the other week. It aims to be cleansing and purifying and is actually made in Korea. I was really pleasantly surprised with this, it fit the face well, had a good amount of product on it and didn’t leave a horrible film on the skin. For only  a couple of pounds, this definitely rivals similarly priced sheet masks that I’ve tried. I would probably give this another try at some point.

The final thing I’ve finished up this month was a sample of the Fresh Sugar Lip Caramel Hydrating Balm. To be honest, I have a tonne of lip balms lying around and it’s not my favourite product to buy or use but this was bloody lovely. It was really nourishing without being thick or greasy and left my lips so soft. The smell (and taste) was really nice and subtle, but set it apart from other balms I’ve used in the past. If I didn’t have about 100 lip balms lying around and this wasn’t a pricey £15 a pot I would be sure to buy myself some!

What have you guys finished up this month? If you have any good recommendations then please leave them below!

Much Love

September & October Empties 2017

Yep, I did it again… I left my empties to build up over two months. Damn, I really should have learnt from my mistakes! Either way, here I am with a mountain of products to get through so i’m going to cut to the chase and get started!

  • Wilko’s Dry Shampoo – just as good, if not better, than brands like Batiste but for only £1 a can. I use the one for all hair types but there’s also fragranced, volume and brunette varieties up for grabs! I will continue to keep buying this but I’m contemplating trying a fragranced one next time too!
  • Mark Hill MiracOILous Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner minis – these came in a set from Christmas last year and I used them up whilst travelling. I actually quite liked them and they worked well with my hair. I wouldn’t say no to buying them again and the 50ml sizes were ideal!
  • Kérastase Lait Vital – this is the conditioner from the nutritive range and it’s okay. I personally like something a bit more heavy duty for my hair so this wasn’t really worth it for the price for me at £18.50. The mask is definitely better than this so I would buy that again instead. However if you don’t need something so nourishing then this may be suitable for finer hair!

Brush CleanersIMG_0283_Fotor.jpg

Not a category i’ve ever had before but I had two products so thought why not. The first one is something I’ve had for a VERY long time and that’s the No 7 Makeup Brush Cleanser. It comes in a pump dispenser and it’s really handy for spot cleaning or wiping down products. I really like it actually and I would consider buying it again although I do fancy trying the MAC one out too! The second product is the Sephora Solid Brush Cleaner and I absolutely love this. I bought a replacement when I was last in the states and I find that this works wonders at deep cleaning my brushes and it also does a great job on my beauty blender too!

  • The Body Shop Spiced Apple Shower Gel – I’m sad to say that I believe this was the last bottle I’d hoarded away in my collection. However, I think this might actually be back in stores for this year so I will be heading off to replenish my shelves any day now thank God!
  • Baylis & Harding Sweet Mandarin and Grapefruit Luxury Body Wash – How anyone can call this luxury is beyond me. Possibly the worst body wash i’ve ever used, the texture was like someone had watered down a regular shower gel and there was absolutely zero scent to it. Never buying this again in a million years.
  • Aveda Stress-fix Body Lotion – there’s still actually product left in this but I hate the smell so much I can’t use it. It’s very strongly lavender based and it lingers for ages on the skin. From what I did use, a little does go a long way so if you like lavender then this may be for you but it’s 100% not for me.
  • Dove Invisible Dry Deodorant – An old faithful that I will keep repurchasing in between my attempts at branching out to other contenders.
  • L’Occitane Amande Hand Cream – firstly, my sleepy brain has included this in the ‘makeup photo’ oops! This is my favourite hand cream ever and I can’t think how many tubes i’ve been through. I would seriously cry if this was ever discontinued! I think I have at least two back ups but this always gets repurchased.
  • J’Adore Dior Edp 30ml – This is probably my favourite perfume ever and I was honestly so sad that it ran out. With Christmas coming up, i’m not going to replace it myself but it will be top of my list this year. My Grandad loves buying us perfume so i’m sure he’ll be chuffed to go along to Boots to pick this up (seriously his Boots points are off the scale after buying for us all!!).

  • Avril Cosmetiques Cleansing Oil – I’ve written a whole post on Avril here, but to keep it brief, this is a nice light cleansing oil that gets every last scrap of makeup off with minimal effort. I liked that it was scent free and didn’t leave a residue on the skin, definitely a product to consider if you like natural products!
  • Figs & Rouge Hydra Active Smart Nutrient Day Cream – I’m pretty sure I was given this by a fellow blogger to try and sadly I didn’t really like it. To say this retails for £28 full size (50ml) this felt like that Diprobase cream you’re given when you have eczema! It was really greasy and even smelt the same and even though my skin can be quite dehydrated, this was wayyyy too much! Quite glad to see this go to be honest!
  • Neutrogena Visibly Clear Spot Clearing Facial Wash – This was quite handy just to have in the shower when you wanted to quickly wash your face, especially with the pump dispenser. I didn’t really find it kept my skin any clearer but it was a cheap and cheerful product. My brother actually ended up using it and he’s 16 so maybe he’s more the target market for it. Not bad but I don’t think i’d buy it again.
  • Sanctuary Spa Ultimate Cleansing Oil – As cleansing oils go, this was not too bad although it had a bit of a weird smell that I wasn’t a fan of. It did the job of removing my makeup but not as well as other cleansing oils so I probably wouldn’t pick up the full size.
  • Lancôme Hydra Zen Moisturiser – I really really loved this product and the night cream that was featured in my last empties. However, they are so bloody expensive that I just don’t know whether I can justify it! They really did work well with my skin though so now that i’m working, perhaps I just need to suck it up and buy them!

  • Too Faced Hangover Face Primer – I had seriously high hopes for this primer after everyone and their mother went on and on about it. For me though, it was just like adding another moisturiser to my face and it didn’t really do much ‘priming’. It left my face feeling hydrated so maybe that’s why they’ve likened it to a hangover cure as it did give my skin a boost when it felt dehydrated. However, I don’t think it kept my makeup on any longer nor did it make it apply any better so I don’t think i’ll be repurchasing this again any time soon.
  • L’oreal Paradise Extatic Mascara – I had actually planned to do a whole review of this mascara but with starting work, it’s actually dried up before I got the chance! This has been hyped up by just about every blogger going and it is actually a pretty good mascara. It has a slightly curved wand with proper bristles rather than plastic and it coats the lashes really well. The one thing I found though was that the formula was quite dry so it had the potential to make things quite clumpy! For under £10 I would definitely use this again, it’s not become my new favourite but it’s definitely not bad either! DSCF0598
  • Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray – I love this setting spray and I will always go back and pick up more bottles as it does such a good job of keeping things in place. I’m trying out and finishing off a few others at the moment but there will no doubt be another bottle of this in rotation some time soon!
  • Benefit Porefessional Primer – I’ve had so many of these samples and I’ve never really found myself raving about it. For me it clings to dry patches and things can start looking a bit cakey and crusty very quickly. I recently received some of the new version of the Porefessional though which has a more hydrating base so I’m hoping that’s more suitable for my skin type! I’ll report back on that one!
  • EOS Strawberry Lip Balm – I liked the actual formula of the balm with this and it was handy to carry around on the go, however the shape of it was a little bit annoying and gradually got harder and harder to use as time went on. I have about a million lip balms to finish off so I can’t see myself replacing this any time soon.
  • Covergirl Outlast All Day Concealer – I picked this up on my trip to the States in April and I was pleasantly surprised. It was hydrating and easy to blend yet delivered a good amount of coverage too! If you can get your hands on this then give it a try as it’s surprisingly very good! The only thing I don’t like is the sponge applicator but overall I was pretty happy with it!

If you’ve made it to the end, I salute you! These posts always take the longest to write but I love reading them myself as you get mini reviews of lots of different products! Let me know what you’ve finished off recently and whether you’ve tried any of the products i’ve mentioned!

August Empties 2017

Oh my god, how on earth is it now September?! I am literally in shock as to how fast this year is going. This month I start my new full-time job, so there’s a lot of changes going on over here. I’m planning to try and write lots of posts in advance so there’s still plenty of content, but if it goes a little quiet from time to time, you know why! Throughout August, I seemed to accumulate a few empties and in order to prevent huge overflowing boxes at the end of next month, I thought we’d get back to monthly ones!

I hate doing my hair so hair empties tend to be few and far between, however this month there are two! Wow. The first is the the Kérastase Nutritive Bain Satin 1 Shampoo. I love the Kérastase shampoos and this one was no different, but my hair requires the next level up (Bain Satin 2) so if I were to pick up another bottle, I would change it to that one. They lather up well and smell gorgeous and keep my hair squeaky clean! The second hair product was a little tub of the Schwarzkopf Brazil Nut Oil Pulp Treatment Mask. This says it was for all hair types, but to be honest I think my hair needs products specifically for thick, dry and unruly hair. Although I didn’t mind this mask, it wasn’t nourishing enough really and it also had tiny little bits of Brazil Nuts in which made me think of an exfoliator. Very strange! I’d probably give this a miss in the future.

A little sparse on the makeup front this month with only one product being finished up. I am quite sad to see it go though as it was the Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara which I’ve written a full review of here. I LOVE Lancôme mascaras and this kept on ticking all of the boxes for me. I don’t usually opt for a plastic wand but this one was brilliant and did such a good job on my lashes. A repurchase may be in order in the future.

A few body products were finished up this month but they are either repeats that I keep on using or things I’ve already talked about in depth. The Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Skin Wash* has its own post here and as I mentioned in the post, it was a very watery consistency so I finished it quicker than I would have liked. I loved the scent though so would consider repurchasing. The next item is the Body Shop Spiced Apple Shower Gel and I’ve gone through a fair few of these over the last year. I’m finally on to my last bottle so I can’t wait for it to come back for the festive season although there is an AMAZING Autumnal scent coming out that I am going to buy tonnes of! Finally is the Nivea Pearl & Beauty Deodorant which I’ve had a few times. I like the scent of this but over the course of the day I don’t find it’s as fresh as my trusty Dove stick. I’m going to keep to Dove again unless Mum picks more up with the weekly shop.

I’ve been trying to use up travel sizes this month as I have them coming out of my ears. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen that I got a 5ml pot of the Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm after wanting to try it for ages. I’m both happy and sad to say that I didn’t like it. Happy because it’s flipping expensive and I have not got the funds for that regularly. Sad because it’s so hyped and i’ve been desperate to get my hands on it for a while. Needless to say I won’t be purchasing the full size. Next up was the Lancôme Hydra Zen Night Cream* which was featured in my latest skincare post here. I really loved this cream and it worked so so well for my skin at night time. I’ve missed not using it to be honest. However, it is over £40 and, as previously mentioned, I’ve not got that much free cash until I start my job and cannot be blowing what I do have on that for now. Maybe out of my first pay packet, but in the meantime i’ll just mope about it.

I also have the Pixi x Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse in here despite the fact it’s not actually empty. I think I bought a dud tub as it wen off very very quickly (3 months). I did have a whole ranting post about this in drafts but after speaking to Pixi, who were very apologetic, professional and accommodating, I don’t think it’s fair when this was clearly an accident. They replaced the item with some other things I wanted to try and we really great about it. I didn’t love the product anyway and I feel there are better cleansers out there but the fact it was definitely off really sealed the deal on whether I was going to finish or not.

Eagle eyes on my Facebook page may have noticed the Clinique offer I posted about a while ago, where you got lots of free goodies. One of the things I tried was the Smart Custom Repair Serum and I really really loved it. Since doing a little stint on my local Clinique counter i’ve found out more about this product and it’s made me like it even more. The reason it’s ‘Smart’ is because it tailor makes it’s effectiveness to what your skin needs. I really loved using it and have again, been missing it in my routine. Finally, I’ve finished up my Evolve Beauty Radiant Glow Mask* that I always rave on about. It smells of chocolate and feels like such a treat when you use it. Again, I’m sorry that it’s finished with and I hope to get it again some time! But first… finish up the other mountain of face masks I own!!

There we have it, all done for this month. There’s already a few things in the box for next month so it could be another good one for empties! What have you finished up this month? Let me know in the comments!

Much Love

*PR Items

June & July Empties 2017!

I feel like with all the trips I’ve been going on recently, I’ve not been on top of my empties posts! However, when I checked my box at the end of July I did find quite an array of items I’d finished up and thought it was time to fill you all in on them!

  • Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray – I finished up both a full size (118ml) and a tiny travel size (15ml) of this! It is definitely my favourite setting spray and I have since purchased the medium sized bottle (30ml) to keep me going. I’ve also saved the bottles of these as I like the spritz on it and will be decanting my new Rimmel setting spray (review to come) into them as I HATE the bottle that one comes in!
  • Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer – I got this last year when I went to Lily & Anna’s event in Liberty’s. Having heard great things about this primer I was certainly eager to try it! I have to say it feel very silicone based and I didn’t notice a significant difference to my makeup when I used it. To say the full size is £55 and even the travel size is £20, I probably wouldn’t buy it myself.
  • Nude By Nature Translucent Loose Powder – I got this as part of the Feel Unique Sample Service and I really really liked it. It’s such a finely milled powder and bakes concealer like a dream! I’ve noticed a huge difference with my concealer not creasing too! I have bought the full size for quite a substantial sum of £22 but i’ve since tried the MAC one (which I used for my graduation) and I do think I prefer that. Damn it! I will use it up but I do think my heart now lies with the MAC Prep & Prime one.

Skincare: DSCF0541_Fotor.jpg

  • Clinique Take The Day Off Balm (Travel Size 15ml) – I love balm cleansers and this one is such a lovely formula. There is no real scent to it which I like and it feels gentle on the skin. It neither strips the skin, nor does it leave a horrible residue. I have quite a few cleansers to wade my way through before I start buying more but when I do, I’ll be picking up a full sized tub of this. Thankfully I do have one more travel sized tub in my stash to keep me going for now though!
  • Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser (Travel Size 30ml) – Is it possible to hate a cult favourite moisturiser? I certainly do with this one! The formula is just horrible in my opinion and leaves such a vile sticky feeling to the skin after it’s dried down. I also find it randomly bobbles off my skin after a while which is just not pleasant. I also don’t feel it really moisturised my skin?! Safe to say, this one won’t be purchased and i’m glad that it’s finished!
  • LUSH Mask Of Magnaminty (Not Pictured) – I finished up the whole tub of this pretty quickly and it’s going to be firmly in rotation through my skincare from now on. I absolutely love it and found that it brought my spots to a head quicker and just generally cleared my skin up. I’ve got a few masks to use up at the moment so i’m banning myself from buying it, however I will be repurchasing in the future!

Bath, Body & Hair:DSCF0540_Fotor.jpg

  • The Comforter Shower Cream – Why is it, that I find a product that I love and the brand discontinues it?! This is one of the nicest shower products i’ve ever used and bloody LUSH have gone and discontinued it! It’s already off the website and I only got this in May from the LUSH event! Safe to say i’m in a grump about this one!
  • The Body Shop Spiced Apple Foaming Bath – This is another one that’s been discontinued, although I knew this at the time as it’s one of their Christmas scents! I’ve dragged this one out as long as I can and now I’m down to just the shower gels. If they bring it back at Christmas, I’ll definitely be repurchasing as the scent is divine!
  • St Tropez In-Shower Gradual Tan (50ml Travel Size) – This is one of the only tans I actually get on with and the only one that’s never caused disasters! I’ve been through quite a few of these mini samples as they were in magazines and subscription boxes aplenty at one point but now i’m down to one travel size and two full size so I should be stocked up for a while!
  • Chanel Chance Eau Tendre Perfume Refill – I had one of these in my last empties too and i’ve been using this so much as it’s just so handy for travel! The little cartridges are 20ml each and fit in a small handbag friendly dispenser. I love all of the Chance fragrances so I like using this one for every day. I’ve only got one cartridge left now so i’ve switched to a different perfume (my old fave J’adore Dior) for the time being just so I don’t get too used to the scent and I can enjoy the last refill!
  • Deonica Fragrance Free Deodorant – This was very weird as there was no scent to it apart from that subtle alcohol scent. All in all i’ve not been very impressed with any of the Deonica deodorants and i’m pretty happy to be back to my old faithful Dove stick. I think I have one of these left for emergencies at Tom’s house but after that I won’t be picking up any more.
  • Bumble & Bumble Don’t Blow It Hair Styler (15ml Travel Size) – I don’t like using heat on my hair so I did have high hopes for this product but unfortunately, I really don’t think it did anything at all! I’m on the search for a good heat-free frizz prevention product though so if you know of any, let me know!

Packets & Wipes:DSCF0542_Fotor.jpg

  • Tony Moly Pomegranate Sheet Mask – I’ve been pretty disappointed with the Tony Moly masks to be honest and they’ve been threaded through empties for a few months now. This one was one of the most ‘moist’ ones i’ve tried and I did like it for that, but it literally never dried! I found the serum was dripping down my neck for the half an hour I had it on my face and it was still soaking afterwards. This one did fit better which was good but again, I don’t think it really did anything. Shame really as they are such good value!
  • Simple Kind To Skin Wipes (7 Wipe Travel Pack) – Mum always grabs me some of these before I go on holiday and I feel like Simple skincare has seriously improved since I used it when I was younger. These don’t feel at all drying and are wet enough to do a good job at removing makeup! These will be a repeat purchase for holidays as they are just so handy.
  • No7 Beautiful Skin Wipes – I always had a pack of these lying around for lazy nights when I couldn’t be bothered to remove my makeup ‘properly’. However these had been in a drawer at Tom’s way too long and the last 5/6 had dried out completely. It’s a shame as they are bloody expensive at £7 a pack. I always preferred these to Simple’s as they were wetter but now that Simple have upped their game, I think I’ll revert back to those in emergencies!
  • Kiehls Calendula Herbal Extract Toner Sample – I’ve always found Kiehls skincare to be okay but nothing that stood out massively. However, I did really like this toner as it was more of a thicker consistency and hence not at all drying or stripping. Saying that I honestly have about 5 toners to use up so I won’t be purchasing any new ones for a while!
  • L’Oreal Pure Clay Purity Mask Sample – Thanks ASOS for adding this into my order! I’ve been meaning to try these masks for ages and I’m pleased to say I wasn’t disappointed! This one aims to cleanse and mattify and I would say that my skin looked both clearer and more matte after this! My skin isn’t particularly shiny though so I think if I bought the full size it would be of the blue one (the one specifically for spots) as I think i’d get the most benefit out of that! My only gripe with this one is it did dry very stiffly on the face which very quickly became uncomfortable!
  • L’Oreal Mythic Oil Hair Mask Sample – I pretty much use a hair mask every time I wash my hair as it’s quite coarse and doesn’t get greasy that often. I really liked this one and although I forgot to put my regular oil in my hair after this, I found that it still felt nourished and hydrated! I’d definitely consider buying the full size, especially as its only £14 on Look Fantastic!

I feel like i’ve finished off quite a good range of products at the moment and it’s helping towards my declutter! I am still trying to get rid of things at the moment so take a look at my Depop page if you’re feeling nosey! My username is @therosebeautyfiles! What have you finished off this month?

Much Love

April & May Empties 2017!

Last month, I decided I didn’t have enough empties to warrant a whole post as I’d used so many things whilst I was away and I hadn’t bothered to drag the empties back home! I thought i’d roll April & May into one post and now two months have gone by, my empties box is literally full to the brim! I wanted to try and use a lot of samples up as they seem to be taking over my room and I’m quickly running out of space! Hopefully that will explain the explosion of empties you’re about to see and why there are just so many minis!

  • MAC Shanghai Spice Lipstick – This has been the most easy to wear lipstick! It’s a gorgeous peachy nude and just perfect for chucking on on a daily basis! I saved this for my back to MAC and I am hoping to get this lippie again in the future!
  • Body Shop Instablur Primer – I honestly feel that this is one of the only primer I have ever used that actually works! Ive written a whole post on it so I won’t go into too much detail but I am definitely sad that this is over! I would definitely pick this up again!
  • LA Girl Pro Conceal – This is a great concealer that also adds a touch of highlight under the eyes when you use a lighter shade! I’ve got some other concealers to use up but this is a bargain and I’d totally buy it again!
  • Too Faced Born This Way Foundation – I can’t believe how quickly I made it through this bottle to say I use so little each time! It provides a nearly flawless base and blends in like a dream. The shades do lean towards the yellow end of the spectrum but personally I really like this! I have a few foundations to use up but I’d buy this again!
  • Clinique Superbalanced Silk Foundation Sample – This is what started off my love for this foundation! This sample lasted ages and now I’m finally onto my full bottle!
  • 3 MAC Nail Varnishes – These were in the shades Nightfall, Steamy & Rougemarie (I think this was the red one, i’m not 100% sure). These had just gotten old and seeing as I have acrylics now, I thought I would back to MAC them so I could FINALLY get a new lipstick with my empties!
  • Chanel Mascara Sample – I honestly can’t even remember a) the full name of this or b) whether it was any good or not. In my mind that means it can’t have been too great so I’m not going to think much about it now!

  • Chanel Chance Eau Tendre Refill – My God Mother bought me a gorgeous Chanel perfume set at Christmas which came with a perfume spray and 3 20ml refill containers to fit inside. I have made my way through the first one and in typical Chanel Chance fashion, it is fresh and easy to wear on a day to day basis! Lucky for me I have two more refills to go!
  • YSL Mon Paris Sample – I can’t remember where I got this but it was pretty average. A bit sweet for my liking and not nice enough to make me want to buy it.
  • Chanel Chance Eau Vivre Sample – Nordstrom have this amazing sample system where you can try things out at your own leisure before you buy. I completely took advantage of this and got so many samples! This was one of my favourite perfumes last summer and having this sample rekindled my love with it. Now I want a full size bottle, damn!

  • REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial – I really like this face mask but it goes off so quickly! Once oxygen gets to the tube the product goes a really weird colour and has a pretty gross smell. Despite liking it a lot, I wouldn’t buy it again as I don’t use it often enough to stop it going off!
  • Evolve Beauty Hyaluronic Serum
  • Simple Cleansing Oil – This is amazing and such a bargain! It left my skin clean and soft without feeling stripped! If you are on a budget then definitely pick this up, I honestly would pay double the price for this!
  • Dior Hydra Life Micellar Water – I LOVED this but I made a boo boo and dropped it and lost a good third of the bottle on the floor! It’s pricey but I found it to be one of the nicest micellar waters I’ve ever tried. I’m trying to psych myself up to shell out over £20 for the full bottle. Damn you Dior!
  • Lancôme Bi Facil Eye Makeup Remover – I’m pretty sure i’ve had one of these before and its a nice eye makeup remover but not so amazing that I have to run out and buy the full size.
  • MAC Eye Makeup Remover Sample – I was pleased to see a new MAC sample available at the checkout when I placed an order a while ago! This was nice and unlike bi-phase it wasn’t oily in the slightest. I think I probably would pick this up at some point as it was so gentle yet effective!
  • Tarte Maracuja C-Brighter – By far the nicest eye cream I’ve ever got to use! It brightened and nourished and was really enjoyable to use! If it becomes easier to buy in the UK i’d buy the full size!
  • LUSH Ultra Bland Cleanser Sample – I HATED this with a passion! When I tried this in the store at the Nottingham event it looked really effective but one use of this at home on an actual face of makeup, it was useless. I didn’t even finish this sample and I definitely won’t be buying it as it left 90% of my makeup on my face!
  • Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm Sample – In contrast to the LUSH sample, I really really enjoyed this and it was so effective at taking my makeup off without having to rub at my skin. I’ve got a stack of cleansers but I’m buying this when some of them have been used!
  • Eve Lom Cleanser Sample – This was lovely but it is pretty pricey! Did the job but I think there are plenty of other good cleansers that are a hell of a lot cheaper!
  • Kate Somerville Exfolikate Sample – I’ve read so many good reviews of this but I honestly found it did nothing. On my hand it showed great potential but on my face, nothing!
  • Sunday Riley Blue Moon Cleansing Balm Sample – I’ve never tried any Sunday Riley products and this cleansing balm really was lovely. It felt luxurious but I don’t think it’s worth £46 in my opinion so I won’t buy the full size!

  • Sephora Lotus Face Mask – Possibly the best sheet mask I have ever used! It’s so nourishing and soaks into the skin really well. Damn Sephora for not being in the UK as I would definitely make sure I had a constant supply of these otherwise!
  • Tony Moly Broccoli Face Mask – I’m still unsure whether the Tony Moly Masks actually do anything of real benefit. This was one of the better ones weirdly but not so much so that I want to buy more sadly.
  • Daiso BB Face Mask with Hyaluronic Acid – I picked this up from the Daiso store in Seattle and it came in a pack of 2 for something like $1.85. It was definitely worth the price and was quite plumping and nourishing! Give it a try if you have a Daiso store nearby!
  • Kiehls Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser Sample – I didn’t like this at all, it felt very drying and stripping and just generally a bit too harsh for my liking. Totally not worth the hype in my opinion!
  • Tarte Pack Your Bags 911 Undereye Rescue Patches – I really really enjoyed using these! They were so cooling and the jelly texture meant they actually stayed on my face for the duration! If I could pick these up easily, I would in a heartbeat!
  • Aesop Parsley Seed Mask Sample – I’ve heard great things about this from bloggers and I did really like it actually. It’s a while since I used this sample but I have another one too so I’ll give you a better review next time i’ve used it as I just cannot remember! I know I really liked it though!

  • Body Shop Vanilla Chai Shower Gel – I normally love Body Shop shower gels but this was incredibly thick and hard to get out of the bottle. The scent was a bit average too. It was limited edition at Christmas but i’m really glad I bought more of the Spiced Apple instead to last me throughout the year!
  • Nivea Stress Protect Deodorant – Randomly I had a deodorant change as I seemed to have waded my way through my huge backlog! This was pretty good actually and lasted well through out the day! Nivea, Dove and Vaseline are definitely my deodorants of choice!
  • Yankee Candle Small Jar in Sea Salt & Sage – Sadly another limited edition product! I couldn’t understand why as the scent was so lovely and fresh, however it was not very strong when it was burning. I mean I really don’t like strong candles but this was potentially even a little too subtle for me! I went through three of the votives in this scent too during May and I have one and a half votives left to use up.
  • Bath & Body Works Pink Hibiscus Hand Gel – When I was travelling with Emily, she gave me this as she said she was fed up with the scent. I actually really liked it as it was fresh and not too sickly unlike many of the other Bath & Body works scents! I wish I’d got another one in this fragrance!
  • LUSH The Mod Father Bubble Bar – This came from the Nottingham Event alongside a couple of other products in this empties post. However, this is the one i’m most sad about finishing. I think I counted that it lasted my 7 whole baths which is really good value for money! The scent was a refreshing orange fragrance and the bubbles were gorgeous! Thankfully it also didn’t stain the bath, which for LUSH is a minor miracle! It’s a real shame that this is only around for Fathers Day! DSCF0417
  • LUSH Tooth Fairy Sample – A very weird concept of using a powder rather than paste to clean your teeth, however I surprisingly really liked this! The flavour was bubble gum which would not have been my preference, however my teeth felt noticeably cleaner than when I use a normal paste! I think a little purchase may be in order!
  • Mark Hill MiracOILous Hair Mask – Any hair masks with argan oil in are usually pretty good on my hair and this one was no different. It was nice and nourishing without weighing my hair down or making it greasy! Quite a good budget hair mask option!

Thank god we’ve made it to the end! I’ve had this post in drafts for a couple of weeks now and i’ve been trying to build up to writing it as I knew it would be a long one! If you read all the way through then thank you, you deserve a medal! What did you finish up this month?

Much Love

March Empties 2017!

I’m sorry but how is it March 31st today?! This year is absolutely flying by, we’re a quarter of the way through already! It’s been such a busy month for me and Aprils proving to be just as busy seeing as I’m jetting of to the states on Thursday! As always, month end means it’s empties time and when I opened the box this month I had genuinely forgotten half of the items I’d placed in there over the last four weeks! I clearly have had a busy month!

  • Heyland & Whittle Orient Candle – This is the most obvious item in the box and probably took the longest to use up! I got it from one of my lovely tutees as a Christmas present and assumed I would have burnt it by the end of January! This thing was relentless and actually gave off a stronger fragrance as time went by too! I did prefer the slightly milder fragrance it gave off towards the beginning of it’s life but it was a lovely wintery scent nonetheless. I am also the sad act who is saving this glass to use for my Gin & Tonics as it’s the perfect size!
  • Soap & Glory Flake Away Scrub – This was in my CrossEyes goodie bag and I finally got round to using it this month! I can literally never be bothered to exfoliate my skin so when I do, I go a bit mad! I used this whole tub in one go and my skin felt great! I need to use some of my other scrubs up soon as I seem to have a tonne! I’ve always been a fan of this one though and would happily use it again.
  • Bath & Body Works Cherry Champagne Toast Anti Bac Gel – Oh how I enjoyed picking these out last year when I went to the states! My favourite was definitely the Island Margarita which they have since discontinued! Damn them! This made my hands feel nice and fresh but the scent was very strong to the point where people were commenting on it. It wasn’t a bad smell, just very intense. When i’m there next week I’m going to look for a milder scent for my next batch to bring home!
  • Clarins Relax Bath & Shower Concentrate – This is my all time favourite bath product and something I need to have in my life at all times. I can already feel myself stressing that I’ve let myself completely run out! I may have to order some more tonight! If you need calming down, go out and buy yourself a bottle of this, you won’t regret it.
  • Nip & Fab Glycolic Scrub Fix – This is my new holy grail face scrub as it just seems to work absolute wonders. Since my Nip & Fab haul, I have been loving this brand of skincare, but this has been the real stand out product for me! It’s such good value and leaves my skin in excellent condition. I have already bought another tube!
  • NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray – I love setting sprays and, regardless of whether they work wonders or not, I love spritzing my face with them to end my makeup routine. I’ve had this NYX spray a while and I really enjoyed it. It’s a good budget friendly option if you don’t want to go all out on the Urban Decay All Nighter. I would definitely buy it again at some point!
  • Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser – I’m honestly surprised at how much I enjoyed using this cleanser! It was great as a second cleanse or a morning freshen up and left my skin feel clean but not stripped in the slightest. It also left it incredibly soft which I really liked! I have cleansers coming out of my ears but if I didn’t I’d definitely grab this again!
  • Seventeen Skin Wow Concealer – This is such a dupe for the Touche Eclat but hey, i’m not complaining at the lower price! Unlike the Touche Eclat, this is more concealing than highlighting yet it does still brighten your under eyes beautifully. It also lasted a lot longer than I expected and at around the £7 mark it’s a complete bargain! I’ve written a post all about it here.
  • Tony Moly Skin Purifying Masks in Seaweed & Milk of Makgeolli – I loved using these two masks but I don’t know whether I can honestly say they did anything. I bought the full set of Tony Moly masks and despite being great value, i’ve not noticed any real benefits from using them which is a shame.
  • REN V-Cleanse Revitalising Night Cream – This was from my Look Incredible Advent Calendar and actually lasted me quite a long time! To say the price of REN skincare, I don’t really feel like this did anything that my other creams haven’t done and I did find it a tiny bit greasy with prolonged use.
  • DHC Deep Cleansing Oil Sample – I had this from Feel Uniques Sample Service and I actually really liked it! It was light and non-greasy and just seemed to dissolve makeup really easily! A pretty good find!

That’s everything for this month! What did you guys finish off this month? Let me know in the comments!

February Empties 2017

I know that February is a short month but seriously, where did the time go?! We are already in march which means that spring is well and truly on the way, the nights are getting lighter and the temperature is slightly warmer! Of course, the end of another months means its empties time again here on the blog and I managed to go through quite a few things again this month that I wanted to share with you all!

  • Eyeko Black Magic Mascara – I received this in a Latest In Beauty box in Summer last year and it remained in the drawer for a while as I was finishing off a few mascaras. I really don’t know how I feel about this mascara, I mean it wasn’t bad; it didn’t clump my lashes; it didn’t run or smudge and it had a nice dark colour. However, it just didn’t wow me so for that reason I probably wouldn’t buy it again.
  • Wella Oil Reflections Shampoo – This was in my Look Fantastic advent calendar and was a nice addition to the items! It lathered up nicely and felt nourishing rather than being stripping like some shampoos. All in all I thought it was nice but I didn’t notice enough of a difference from my regular shampoos to warrant me buying the full size.
  • Deonica Clean Fresh Deodorant – It would not be an empties post without a deodorant being included! This one was definitely better than the last Deonica one I had in another empties post but still not better than my beloved DOVE one! Still got a fair few cans of this left to go though so I must soldier on!
  • Body Shop Sweet Lemon Shower Gel – Again, if I didn’t have at least one body shop shower gel in my empties post would it even be an empties? This one is the Sweet Lemon scent that only gets sold when there’s a sale on. To be honest this is one of the first scents that I wouldn’t buy again! It didn’t really remind me of a lemon at all and the texture was very very thick and gelatinous so not one I would reach for again sadly!
  • Witch Daily Primer & Clearing Serum – I’ve seen a lot of people talk about this as I think it was in a blogging goodie bag at a few different events! This was in my goodie bag from the #NottsAlzheimersMeetup and I finally got round to using it! I loved the feeling of it on my skin as it was so thick and luxurious and soaked in beautifully. I definitely didn’t notice any difference with my skin though and to say it’s a primer, I didn’t really feel like my make up wen on particularly nicely afterwards. It’s a shame as I loved the look and feel of the product!
  • No7 Nude Lipliner – This is the best nude lip liner I have ever found. The colour is a perfect neutral brown shade and it glades on like a dream! It was only after I bought it that I found out that Lisa Eldridge recommends it too! It’s a great retractable pencil that also has  sharpener at the end and to top it off, it’s only £7! I will be buying another of these in the future!
  • Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Oil – I love The Body Shop cleansers and I’ve been through one of these oils before and I still enjoy using it. However, I don’t think that the oil is as good as the Cleansing Butter which is my holy grail cleanser! If you prefer an oil texture then I would 100% recommend this but I think I will be repurchasing the butter rather than the oil personally!
  • Yves Rocher Hydra Vegetal Wipes – I HATED these! The smell was absolutely vile, they were very dry the took no makeup off nor did they do anything good for my skin. A real fail of a product for me!
  • Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Mini in 01 – This is my favourite natural lip product ever and I’ve been through a couple of these minis before and a full size tube. If you don’t like wearing lipstick but want to try something more than carmex or vaseline then buy one of these, you will not regret it!
  • LUSH Lover Lamp Bath Bomb – I have a whole review on this here but to cut a long story short, I loved this and would 100% buy it again!
  • Garnier Skin Active Moisture Bomb Sheet Mask – This is the second time I’ve had one of these masks and they are really enjoyable to use. They stick to your face nicely, feel soothing and hydrating and are incredibly cheap to pick up, sometimes even under £1. My only issue is that I don’t feel they really do masses for my skin, however I would keep buying them for the price and the feel!
  • Face Inc Instant Detox Sheet Mask – I got both this mask and the Garnier one from the CrossEyes event and I was desperate to try this new venture from Nails Inc. I can honestly say that this is the best fitting sheet mask I’ve tried and doesn’t gape or sag or crinkle anywhere on the face which is perfect! It’s packed full of serum and was really enjoyable to use. My skin felt lovely afterwards but like with most sheet masks, I never really felt a huge difference! Would definitely buy it again as a treat though!

That’s it for this month’s empties, I already have two in my box for next month which is pretty good going seeing as it’s only the 2nd of March! What did you finish up this month?

Much Love
